Free tool for veterans: Presumptive Check

Presumptive Check is a free tool to help veterans see whether the new DVA rules might apply to them. It is still in development, so it may not be perfect, and feedback is welcome.

From 1 July 2026, DVA can accept some health conditions without the veteran having to prove their service caused them. This is called presumptive liability.

Many veterans have stayed away from DVA for years because they felt their service did not count. If that sounds like you, now is a good time to take another look.

The tool helps you:

• check whether a condition you have may fit the new rules

• find out how to get your service and medical records

• find an advocate near you

It takes a few minutes. There is no login, and nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere.

This tool gives general information only. It is not run by DVA, and only DVA can decide a claim.
