Veteran Nursing now provides a basic advisory support service to residential aged care facilities across the Manning region, with a focus on improving care for veterans and war widows. This is a free service purely run for the betterment of the veterans and war widows in our local facilities. Often veterans are easily identified because they already hold a DVA Gold Card or White Card but there are also many veterans who sadly have never thought to (or known they could) register with DVA.
Initial visit to your facility
A single on site session to provide education to nursing staff on available veteran supports. This includes how to navigate and access DVA supplied equipment, processes, and referral pathways for residents. It also includes a practical review of existing policies and processes, identifying opportunities to make key actions, such as the facility’s current admission process, more veteran considerate and aligned with available supports.
Resident review (as appropriate)
Brief review(s) of identified veteran residents with your Clinical Care Manager to highlight opportunities for improved support and create opportunity for access to equipment.
